Three director positions up for election at annual meeting

Cooperative members will have the opportunity to elect three directors at the upcoming North Central Electric Cooperative annual meeting. The annual meeting is June 10 at the Bottineau High School, and directors will be elected from Districts 2, 3 and 5.
These three districts are now represented by Lori Kittleson, Bottineau, Kenneth Brenden, Souris and Kenneth Haarsager, Mohall.
Any cooperative member living in one of these districts can run for the director position. To have your name placed on the ballot at the annual meeting, you need to pick up a petition from the cooperative’s office in Bottineau. Your petition must be signed by at least 20 members living in your district before you return it to the cooperative. Petitions must be returned to the coopreative’s Bottineau office by 5 p.m. May 21. Doing so will place your name on the ballot.
People may also be nominated from the floor during the nomination process at the annual meeting. Directors are elected at large by all members attending the annual meeting. You must live in the district to run for a director position.
The cooperative is governed by a nine-person board of directors. These directors meet monthly to review cooperative business and establish policies to operate the cooperative. Directors also attend other industry meetings to keep informed of issues affecting the cooperative.
District 2 includes the following townships: Roland, Homen, Willow Lake, Whitteron, Cordelia and Gilbert.
District 3 is made up of these townships: Scotia, Scandia, Haram, Dalen, Eidsvold, Peabody and Pickering.
Townships making up District 5 include: Stafford, Prosperity, Colquhoun, Eden Valley, Wheaton, Grover, Hamerly, Hurley, Hoffman, McKinney, Hamlet, Brandon and Cutback.
Election of directors takes place during the business meeting portion of the annual meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Holwell Auditorium at the Bottineau High School June 10.
