   "We encourage people to call us now about central air conditioning," says Pete Erickson, member services manager of the cooperative. Calling now will ensure your air conditioning system is installed before the hot days of summer, so it is ready for use.
   "A lot of people wait until it gets hot out and then they call us," Erickson says. Sometimes the air conditioning calls are so numerous, it is hard for the cooperative to keep up!
   The cooperative offers several different options for cooling: central air conditioning systems, heat pumps and ductless air conditioning systems.
Central air conditioning systems are for homes that have a furnace and ductwork. An air conditioning coil is added to the furnace to provide cooling through the existing ductwork.  Heat pumps work just like central air conditioning systems. However, a heat pump can also provide you some of your heating needs, too. Heat pumps will save you money on your heating bills because a heat pump operates at a lower cost than other heating systems.
Ductless air conditioning systems are for people without ductwork in their homes. A blower cabinet is mounted near the top of a wall to deliver cool air to your home.
   "Ductless air conditioning systems have become very popular in the last few years," Erickson says.  All air conditioning systems work to dehumidify your home, making it more comfortable.
   You can finance your air conditioning system with a loan from the cooperative. You can borrow up to $3,000 and simply repay on your monthly electric bill. Interest rates are 5 percent for heat pumps and 6 percent for central air systems.
