Co-op Awards College Scholarships

   North Central Electric Cooperative has awarded six college scholarships to outstanding area students for the 2008-2009 school year.
   Scholarship winners include Tanner Hall, Upham, who received a $1,000 scholarship as the top overall scholarship winner. Sean Rinkenberger and Brooke Marquardt, both of Bottineau, will each receive a $500 scholarship that is designated for use at a North Dakota school. Three students received $500 scholarships earmarked for students attending Minot State University-Bottineau (MSU-B): Becky Olson, Souris, Adrienne Davis, Belcourt and   Ben Bullinger, Bottineau. The cooperative also earmarks two $500 scholarships to the Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt, but no applications were received from students attending the Turtle Mountain Community College.

Tanner Hall


   Hall, the son of Barry and Julie Hall, is a senior at Glenburn High School. He plans on attending the University of Minnesota, majoring in mass communications. His $1,000 college scholarship is provided by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, the cooperative’s power supplier.

Sean Rinkenberger

   Rinkenberger is the son of Linda and Steve Rinkenberger. He will graduate from Bottineau High School in May. Rinkenberger plans to attend Jamestown College.

Brooke Marquardt

   Marquardt, the daughter of Dan and Connie Marquardt, is a graduating senior at Bottineau High School. She plans on attending North Dakota State University, studying nursing.

Becky Olson

   Olson, the daughter of Lisa Young and Luther Olson, is also a graduating senior at Bottineau High School. She plans on attending MSU-B for two years before completing her college education.

Adrienne Davis

   Davis is the daughter of Peter and Harlene Davis. She will graduate from the Turtle Mountain Community High School in May. Davis plans on attending two years at MSU-B, and then will continue her education, with plans to become a physical therapist.

Ben Bullinger


   Bullinger, the son of Tina and John Bullinger, is a graduating senior at Bottineau High School. He will begin his college education at MSU-B.
   Scholarship awards were based on SAT/ACT scores, grade point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a statement by the student explaining educational and career goals and a written recom
mendation by a third party. Scholarships are awarded without regard to other awards, loans or financial needs of the student. The cooperative received 19 scholarship applications.
   The scholarship program is designed to help recognize and encourage the achievements of children of cooperative members; the scholarship program helps develop the future leaders of our country.
             Congratulations to all of the scholarship winners!!!
